Job summary

Wentworth-Douglass Hospital is seeking a Nursing Assistant for a per diem position in New Hampshire. The role includes basic patient care, vital signs, and mobility assistance, with no weekends or holidays and a 8am–4:30pm schedule.

Responsibilities include patient bathing, feeding support, and reporting changes to the charge nurse. The position requires a High School Diploma and NH LNA credential with BLS certification preferred.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; NH LNA license required or in process.
  • Licenses: BLS and LNA NH credentials are required per NH Board of Nursing.
  • Experience: 1–2 years preferred; nursing assistant experience also acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and record vital signs and weights per policy.
  • Provide hands-on patient care including bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility.
  • Grooming and personal care of patient; assist with toileting per care plan.
  • Safely assist with treatments and procedures as needed.
  • Notify charge nurse of changes in patient condition or concerns.

Summary:

  • Responsible for providing basic nursing care which includes assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, mobility, and toileting. Also responsible for taking vital signs, obtaining specimens, observing and reporting information and basic first aid.

Essential Functions
  • Obtains and records Vital Signs and weights per policy.
  • Provide hands on patient/client care.
  • Grooming and personal care of patient/client.
  • Feeds or assists patients with meals and provides additional nourishment and hydration per care plan.
  • Collects and bags soiled linen and delivers to dirty linen area.
  • Assists physician and or licensed nurse with treatments and procedures as needed.
  • Toileting and incontinence care for patient/client.
  • Reports changes in patient's condition, patient/family concerns or complaints to charge nurse and or supervisor.

Licenses and Credentials

Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers required Nursing Assistant [LNA - New Hampshire] - New Hampshire Board of Nursing required

Experience

Clinical/Medical Office/Managed Care Experience 1-2 years preferred or Nursing Assistant Experience 0-1 year preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledgeable in general nursing assistant practices, personal care and basic medical services.
  • Knowledgeable of patient rights, privacy and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to the needs of patients and employees.
  • Understands and is committed to maintaining highest level of confidentiality and adheres to policies on confidentiality.
  • Good communication skills both written and oral.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds independently.
