Job summary

Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA seeks flexible houseparents to supervise and mentor students in a two-person, married-couple role. You will manage household routines, student schedules, and transportation to activities while ensuring student wellness and safety.

You will lead daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, assist with budgeting and reporting, and transition from an initial nine days on duty followed by three days off to a placed houseparent living with the same group of students.

Qualifications

• Experience working or volunteering with youth.
• Two-person role for married couples (two spouses).
• Both spouses must be age 27 or older.
• No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home.
• Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol on duty.
• Pet limitations: only fish and one dog of approved breeds allowed.
• Valid U.S. driver\'s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans.
• Comfort leading daily devotions and accompanying students to Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel (proselytizing prohibited).
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; staff serve as role models for students.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily supervision and mentorship to students.
• Manage household routines and student schedules.
• Administer medications and ensure student wellness.
• Drive students to activities and plan developmental/recreational activities.
• Lead daily devotions and accompany students to Sunday Chapel.
• Oversee budgeting and household reporting.
• For initial years, work as a two-person team with nine days on duty followed by three days off; later transition to a Placed Houseparent role living with the same group of students.
