Job summary

Calvin University's Life & Career Studies Program is seeking a Residence Hall Graduate Assistant to mentor and support LCS students living on campus. This part-time, live-in role emphasizes building meaningful relationships, fostering inclusion, and helping students feel connected and successful in their residential experience.

The position offers flexible hours (approximately 16 per week) across a 34-week contract (August–May) and aligns with graduate study.

Responsibilities

Serve as a positive role model for LCS students living on campus.
Conduct periodic in-person check-ins to promote safety and well-being.
Be available on assigned days for emergency or student-support calls, including evenings and weekends.
Meet individually with students to navigate challenges of living in a residence hall.
Help students identify campus activities and social opportunities.
Encourage friendships and connections across campus.
Provide informal social coaching to foster independence.
Assist with roommate communication and problem-solving.
Coordinate safe transportation when needed.
Collaborate with the LCS Resident Director and Program Coordinator to support student success.
Attend regular meetings with LCS leadership and program staff.
