Job summary

Milton Hershey School (MHS) in Hershey, PA, invites motivated couples to join as Full-time Flex Houseparents living on campus with a group of 8–13 students. You’ll provide daily supervision, mentorship, routines, and support for student wellness.

This two-person role requires married couples, at least two years, with both spouses 27+, and a commitment to a smoke-free, weapon-free campus. On-duty shifts include nine days on, three off, with the possibility to advance to a placed houseparent.

Qualifications

• Experience working or volunteering with youth.
• Two-person role for couples married for at least two years.
• Both spouses must be age 27 or older.
• No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home.
• Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol on duty.
• Pet limitations: fish and one dog of approved breeds.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans.
• Comfort leading students in daily devotions and Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited).
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; staff serve as role models for students.

Responsibilities

• Providing daily supervision and mentorship for students.
• Managing household routines and student schedules.
• Administering medications and ensuring student wellness.
• Driving students to activities and planning developmental/recreational events.
• Leading daily devotions and accompanying students to Sunday Chapel.
• Overseeing budgeting and household reporting.
• Starting as a Flex Houseparent in nine-on/three-off schedule, then transitioning to Placed Houseparent with the same group of students.
