Job summary

Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA is hiring married couples as Full-time Flex Houseparents who live on campus and care for a group of 8–13 students. This unique role starts with nine consecutive days on duty, followed by three days off, and leads to a possible transition into a placed houseparent within a single student home.

Qualifications

• Two-person couple role; must be legally married for at least two years.
• Both spouses must be 27 years or older.
• No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home.
• Campus must be smoke-free and weapon-free; no alcohol while on duty.
• Pets allowed: fish and one approved dog.
• Valid U.S. driver's license; ability to become certified to drive student vans.
• Comfort leading daily devotions and accompanying students to Sunday Chapel.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; staff serve as role models.

Responsibilities

• Providing daily supervision and mentorship to students.
• Managing household routines and student schedules.
• Administering medications and ensuring student wellness.
• Driving students to activities and planning developmental/recreational events.
• Leading daily devotions and accompanying students to Sunday Chapel.
• Overseeing budgeting and household reporting.
• Initially support various student homes; nine days on, three days off.
• On weekdays, unscheduled time while students are at school.
• Eventually transition into a placed houseparent living with the same group.
