Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) is seeking an Event Technician & Stagehand to provide technical support for rentals in the Richard J. Ernst Community Cultural Center and the Rachel M Schlesinger Concert Hall and Arts Center.

This part-time role involves operating lighting and sound boards, coordinating with on-site staff, and ensuring a safe, professional environment during events. Typical hours are evenings and weekends, with a maximum of 29 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Must operate a computer lighting control board, sound system, video projectors and cameras.
• Must operate a theatrical fly system.
• Must set up a dance floor and portable sound systems.
• Must climb a catwalk and hang/focus theatrical lighting equipment.
• Must be able to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Must work a varied schedule, including days, nights and weekends.
• Clear communication, both verbally and in writing, is imperative.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for rental groups in the performing arts venues.
• Accountable for building security and a safe, professional environment.
• Coordinates with on-site custodial staff to keep areas clean during events.
• Reports to the Operations Manager and collaborates with other technicians.
• Providing stage support for rental clients, including operation of fly systems, microphone setup, and lighting focus.
• Operating light and sound boards.
• Overseeing events and setting up for events.
• Cleaning up after events.
