Job summary

FOX Television Stations is seeking an experienced Relief Technician for temporary, per diem coverage in the Southfield, MI market. You will operate live control room systems to ensure accurate, timely broadcasts, collaborating with News Directors and Producers to execute rapid direction changes.

The role requires 3–4 years of broadcast ops experience, an Associate degree or equivalent, and proficiency with Sony ELC and Evertz Mediator.

Qualifications

• 3–4 years of operational experience in a medium to major market broadcast environment.
• Associate degree or equivalent hands-on broadcast experience required; Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Telecommunications, or a related field preferred.
• Available to work on a temporary, per diem basis to assist with short-term coverage, planned leave, breaking news, weekends, or holidays as needed.
• Proven proficiency with Sony ELC, Evertz Mediator (or equivalent automation/playout systems), and standard live control room hardware.

Responsibilities

• Production Automation: Operate Sony ELC production automation systems and Evertz Mediator (or comparable master control playout platforms).
• Live Newscast Execution: Operate production equipment for daily live newscasts and coordinate changes with News Directors and Producers.
• Sports & Local Programming: Manage live and taped local sports and public affairs productions under direction of local teams.
• On-Air Playout & Traffic Integration: Coordinate automated transmission operations with Sales, Traffic, and Hub personnel.
