Description du poste

Company Description

The Lokey Law Firm is a South Carolina-based firm dedicated to representing individuals who have suffered personal injuries or have been in accidents caused by others. The firm focuses on helping clients seek fair compensation for medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering, easing the financial burdens that arise after an injury. With substantial experience and resources, the team manages the legal complexities of personal injury claims so clients can focus on recovery. The Lokey Law Firm provides personalized guidance and free case evaluations, aiming to secure the full compensation clients need and deserve.

About the role

This is a dual role for an experienced paralegal. You will support our attorneys on personal injury cases in active litigation, and you will run the day-to-day operation of our Workers' Compensation department: managing the caseload, and making sure every claim moves on time from notice of claim through hearing or settlement.

We are looking for someone who is organized, calm under deadlines, and comfortable being the person others come to with questions.

What you'll do
Personal injury litigation
  • Draft pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, subpoenas, and routine correspondence for attorney review.
  • Calendar and track deadlines under the SC Rules of Civil Procedure and scheduling orders, including discovery cutoffs, expert disclosures, and mediation deadlines.
  • Coordinate depositions, independent medical examinations, and court-ordered mediations with clients, opposing counsel, court reporters, and mediators.
  • Request, organize, and summarize medical records and bills; build medical chronologies and damages summaries.
  • Prepare trial notebooks, exhibit lists, and witness binders; assist attorneys at trial and mediation as needed.
  • E-file and serve documents through the SC Judicial Branch e-filing system and track filings in state and federal court.
  • Keep clients informed of case status in clear, plain language.
  • Manage the department's full caseload.
  • Prepare and file SC Workers' Compensation Commission forms, including the Form 50 (Employee's Notice of Claim and/or Request for Hearing), pre-hearing briefs, and settlement documents such as clincher agreements.
  • Track Commission hearing dates, mediation deadlines, and statutory time limits for every open claim.
  • Monitor authorized medical treatment, temporary total disability payments, and impairment ratings; follow up with adjusters and carriers when benefits are late or denied.
  • Coordinate Workers' Comp claims with related third-party personal injury claims, including lien and subrogation issues.
  • Build and maintain department procedures, checklists, and templates so files are handled the same way every time.
Firm-wide
  • Keep case information accurate and current in our case management system.
  • Work with the Office Manager on settlement statements, lien resolution, and disbursement preparation.
  • Protect client confidentiality and follow firm policies on trust accounting and file handling.
What you bring
  • 2+ years of paralegal experience, with at least 1 in plaintiff personal injury litigation.
  • Hands-on experience with South Carolina workers' compensation claims and the SCWCC process.
  • Working knowledge of the SC Rules of Civil Procedure and court e-filing.
  • Strong writing, proofreading, and organizational skills.
  • Comfort with case management software (Litify or Salesforce-based platforms a plus) and Microsoft Office.
Nice to have
  • Paralegal certificate or degree.
  • Background handling health insurance, ERISA, or Medicaid liens.
What we offer
  • Performance bonus eligibility tied to case outcomes.
  • Health, Dental and Vison Insurance
  • PTO and Paid Holidays
  • Retirement Plan
  • A leadership role in a small firm where your systems and judgment shape how the department runs.
