The Lovely Law Firm Injury Lawyers, a Myrtle Beach-based personal injury practice, is seeking a Pre-Litigation Paralegal to support attorneys across a dynamic case load. The role emphasizes client service, factual investigations, and medical management within a team-focused environment.

Responsibilities include managing client communications, document filing, medical records handling, and assisting with demand preparation while maintaining accurate case activity in our case management system.

Qualifications

• We are seeking a candidate with litigation experience who will work primarily litigation files.
• Education: High School Graduate
• Experience: Prefer 1-2 years of prior legal experience
• Good communication and organization skills
• Prefer someone with personal injury experience.

Responsibilities

• Client Service & Communication: interview clients, update on case progress, ensure 30-day contact cadence, coordinate attorney calls.
• File Management/Demands/Settlements: track medical records, organize documents, log activities, prepare files for demand, assist with lien handling and disbursement statements.
• Medical Management: review medical bills/records, gather treatment and related information, identify providers, schedule appointments.
• Litigation: draft petitions and discovery, assist with pleadings, coordinate doctor conferences and depositions.

Pre-Litigation Paralegal

At the Lovely Law Firm, the Paralegal works on a dynamic caseload of pre-litigation personal injury cases, investigates facts, and prepares documents to assist the attorneys by performing a variety of support and administrative duties. The focus for the Paralegal must be on client service, communication, and medical management.

DIRECT SUPERVISOR: Operations Team

JOB DUTIES:

Client Service & Communication

• Conducts client interviews and insurance inquiries to assess case viability under attorney supervision.
• Regularly updates clients on the progress of their cases, ensuring they fully understand and approve of all actions taken on their behalf.
• Maintains consistent communication with clients, reaching out at least every 30 days to provide updates, monitor medical treatment, and address property damage, meeting a 90% client contact KPI.
• Initiates an introductory phone call within 24 hours of case assignment to establish timely communication.
• Coordinates and schedules attorney phone calls with relevant case parties to ensure smooth case management.

File Management/Demands/Settlements

• Promptly request and track all necessary medical records and bills to ensure timely case progression.
• Maintain and organize case documents in a well-structured filing system.
• Accurately document all case activity in a software-based case management system for easy reference and updates.
• Perform a range of administrative and support tasks to assist in the smooth operation of the case.
• Prepare case files for the demand department, consistently meeting monthly demand targets.
• Assist in seeking liens and negotiating lien reductions under attorney guidance.
• Draft Disbursement Statements as directed by the attorney, ensuring accuracy in final settlements.

Medical Management

• Collaborates with the Marketing department, providing client feedback related to marketing efforts, including TV, social media, and other campaigns.
• Reviews all medical bills and records to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• During the 30-day client contact, gathers key information, including:
  • Treatment status
  • Property damage status
  • Lost wage status
  • Injury photos
• Identifies appropriate healthcare providers and schedules timely medical appointments for injury treatment.
• Reviews, analyzes, and interprets medical records and billing to ensure accuracy and relevance to the case.

Litigation

• Drafts petitions and prepares initial discovery documents for attorney review and subsequent filing.
• Generates pleadings at the attorney's request to advance the case towards trial.
• Assists in drafting discovery responses with input from clients to ensure thoroughness and accuracy.
• Coordinates and schedules doctor conferences, depositions, mediations, and other key legal events as needed.
