Job summary

Tippecanoe County Public Defender seeks a Litigation Assistant to support attorneys and departmental staff throughout all phases of litigation. The role includes organizing discovery, maintaining case files, and coordinating intake and documentation for efficient workflows.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED with some legal/justice exposure, strong written and oral communication, and the ability to work independently or in a team while adhering to policies and ethics.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with prior legal/criminal justice experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state and local laws, procedures and terminology.
• Ability to communicate clearly, both written and orally, with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Ensure timely exchange and documentation of all case discovery materials.
• Design and maintain databases tracking caseloads and Public Defender standards.
• Assist attorneys and staff with electronic discovery, client files, and file preparation.
• Assist Administrative Assistant with payroll, expenses and vendor claims.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
