Qualifications

• J.D. degree from an ABA‑accredited law school.
• Current bar admission in the state of practice or main jurisdiction.
• Minimum five years in a Litigation Services role; three years as a Litigation Associate and/or court employee may be considered.
• Minimum two years of supervisory experience, preferably in litigation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the Texas Litigation Services teams.
• Develop and supervise the Texas Litigation Services team, including hiring, assignment, training, evaluation, and salary/bonus recommendations.
• Utilize legal research platforms to support strategic legal analysis and procedural guidance.
• Ensure calendaring and deadlines are calculated correctly and filings are completed in all formats.
• Protect confidential and privileged information retained by the firm.
• Collaborate with the Litigation Services Managing Attorney and attorneys across the practice.

The Role

The Litigation Services Supervising Attorney is a key member of Latham’s Litigation Services team. The role oversees day‑to‑day operations of the Texas Litigation Services teams, collaborates with the Litigation Services Managing Attorney, develops and supervises the Texas Litigation Services team, and plays an active role in hiring, assignment, training, evaluation, and salary/bonus recommendations. The position is located in either Austin or Houston and may offer a flexible hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities

• Use Westlaw Edge, Lexis+, Courtlink, Lex Machina, and other research platforms to provide high‑level legal research and analysis on procedural issues across jurisdictions and support strategic legal analysis for general litigation procedure and rule interpretation.
• Apply an advanced knowledge of applicable court rules and procedures in multiple jurisdictions quickly, efficiently, and in a risk‑management mindset.
• Develop a repository of judicial insight, including reviewing transcripts to identify themes, compiling case precedent and analytics, and tracking attorney experience relevant to judges.
• Prepare procedural road maps for major court filings, flag applicable rules, address confidentiality concerns, provide templates, and streamline collaboration among attorneys, litigation services, and paralegals.
• Ensure correct calculation and calendaring of case deadlines, oversee court and agency filings in paper and electronic formats, and meet all applicable court and judicial procedures.
• Protect and maintain highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, and proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains.

Requirements

• J.D. degree from an ABA‑accredited law school.

• Minimum five (5) years of experience in a Litigation Services role; a minimum three (3) years of experience as a Litigation Associate and/or court employee may be considered.
• Minimum two (2) years of supervisory experience, preferably in litigation.

• Competitive base salary of USD $200,000–$230,000 per year with bonus opportunities.
