Job summary

ProspectBlue seeks an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join its Virginia Beach team. The role provides comprehensive support to attorneys handling civil litigation and real estate matters, with a focus on accuracy, deadlines, and professional client communication.

The ideal candidate will manage discovery, filings, real estate title documents, and trial preparation while maintaining organized matter files and assisting with billing and time records; familiarity with federal and Virginia

Qualifications

• Three+ years of paralegal experience, preferably civil litigation or real estate matters.
• Formal paralegal education such as an associate degree or paralegal certification is preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) as well as Adobe and Nuance software.
• Familiarity with electronic filing procedures in federal and Virginia state courts; PACER/ECF/VJEFS/OCRA advantageous.
• Understanding of Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, Federal Rules of Appellate Procedure, and Rules of the Supreme Court of Virginia.
• Experience with real estate title documentation and title-related matters is desirable.
• Experience with legal case management platforms and electronic document management systems is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Support attorneys through all phases of litigation, including pleadings, motions, discovery, and filings.
• Examine and interpret real estate documentation (deeds, surveys, plats, title records).
• Conduct research on heirship, family history, and asset locations.
• Maintain physical and electronic matter files and ensure proper categorization.
• Prepare trial materials, binders, and supporting documentation.
• Review deposition transcripts and prepare summaries for attorneys.
• Evaluate discovery materials for relevance, confidentiality, and privilege.
• Coordinate service of process, subpoenas, and writs.
• Proofread and format memoranda and briefs; maintain client communications.
• Monitor court schedules and deadlines; prioritize active matters.
• Oversee document organization, exchange, and production in discovery platforms.
• Record time spent on matters; support billing objectives (1,400 billable hours benchmark).
