Job summary

Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP in Phoenix is seeking an experienced paralegal to join our 100% in-office team. You will assist attorneys through discovery, trial preparation, and document management in civil litigation matters.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of paralegal experience, civil litigation background (medical malpractice a plus), a BA and ABA-approved paralegal certificate, and strong research skills. Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint and Excel is required; iManage experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• 3+ years paralegal experience in a law firm.
• Civil litigation experience required; Medical Malpractice experience is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree and paralegal certificate from ABA-approved program required.
• Familiarity with web-based legal research services.

Responsibilities

• Assist attorneys with civil case preparation throughout discovery and trial.
• Discovery and records management, including subpoenas and tracking responses.
• Summarize medical and employment records, create chronologies, and summarize discovery responses.
• Review and synthesize records and data in tort cases, including medical records and transcripts.
• Motion writing experience, including oppositions to motions (discovery motions, continuing trial).
• Proficient with Word, PowerPoint, Excel; learn document and case management systems.
