Job summary

Kanner & Pintaluga in Chicago, IL seeks a Litigation Paralegal to support attorneys with day-to-day case management and trial preparation in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of litigation or paralegal experience, with strong MS Office skills, and familiarity with the discovery process; personal injury experience is highly preferred.

Experience with e-filing in state court is valued; candidates will have opportunities to grow within the firm.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of litigation or paralegal experience.
• Personal Injury Litigation experience strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with the discovery process is preferred.
• Experience e-filing in state court is preferred; willingness to learn is required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to manage a heavy workload in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients and co-workers.
• Excellent organization skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage a heavy workload.
• Teamwork oriented with a positive, service-minded approach.

Responsibilities

• Perform secretarial, clerical, and data-entry duties in support of litigation matters.
• Maintain attorney calendars and track deadlines and upcoming case events.
• Schedule depositions, mediations, meetings, and hearings.
• Manage documents with Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe and FileVine.
• E-file legal documents through the State E-Portal System; assist with filings.
• Assist attorneys in preparing for depositions, hearings, and conferences.
• Draft pleadings, motions, affidavits, and subpoenas under attorney direction.
• Send correspondence by email, regular mail, and certified mail.
• Communicate with clients professionally and route inquiries to the appropriate team member.
• Set up CourtCalls/Zoom for hearings and coordinate virtual attendance.
• Support fact-finding and maintain complete case files.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
