Job description

Explore career opportunities for attorneys and other professionals at a dynamic boutique practice that is nationally recognized for representation of Fortune 500 companies. BSP Law takes pride in a distinctive environment of collegiality, teamwork, and commitment to work-life balance.

As integral team members of our practice, associates and paralegals have substantial responsibilities, work directly with the members and senior attorneys, and receive professional development support.

We welcome confidential inquiries from experienced litigators, discovery specialists, certified legal investigators and trial preparation assistants who want to learn more about BSP Law opportunities.

Bush Seyferth, a leading boutique trial and litigation firm with offices in Michigan and Texas, is seeking a Litigation Paralegal for its growing team. Though smaller than “big law” firms, Bush Seyferth punches well above its weight, providing nationwide litigation services with trial skills second to none. Some of America’s best-known companies look to Bush Seyferth for successful results in product liability litigation, complex business litigation, class actions, and appeals.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced litigation environment and is ready to take ownership of paralegal responsibilities across the full lifecycle of a case—from pre-litigation through trial. The position spans discovery management, motion practice support, client communications, investigative research, and trial preparation.

We are looking for a smart, detail-oriented, personable self-motivator with excellent communication skills, a professional demeanor, and who takes pride in always producing top-quality work, but also likes to have fun with coworkers in a collegial environment. This position requires a highly organized, strategic big-picture thinker who loves details and can execute quickly and accurately.

What You’ll Do
Pleadings & Motion Practice
  • Draft pleadings, including complaints and defaults.
  • Draft motions, including motions for alternate service, second summons, default judgment, and reinstatement.
  • Draft demand letters and repayment agreements.
  • Review pleadings and discovery received from opposing parties.
Discovery & Document Management
  • Oversee the discovery phase of litigation, ensuring all case deadlines are met.
  • Draft discovery, including initial disclosures and discovery requests (interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission).
  • Draft comprehensive discovery responses for attorney review.
  • Analyze and interpret technical information received from clients and translate it into discovery responses.
  • Identify, gather, and organize documents for production in both hard copy and electronic formats.
  • Redact and Bates-stamp documents for production.
  • Conduct legal privilege reviews and responsiveness reviews, and prepare privilege logs.
  • Coordinate, track, and review document productions.
  • Maintain meticulous organization of production files and case files for attorney review. Research & Investigation
  • Conduct investigative research using social media, TLO, Carfax, Westlaw, and other resources.
  • Manage the investigation of case background facts.
  • Prepare and process FOIA requests, subpoenas, and third-party record requests.
  • Identify, order, review, and summarize records from third parties, including claim files and medical records.
  • Prepare medical chronologies.
Client & Expert Communication
  • Serve as a direct point of communication with clients, including attorneys, paralegals, and accounting personnel.
  • Communicate with experts and coordinate scheduling of independent medical examinations (IMEs).
  • Communicate with bankruptcy and post-judgment attorneys as needed.
  • Manage a large volume of cases, including monitoring due dates and prompting clients and attorneys to respond when required.
Deposition & Trial Preparation
  • Assist in the preparation of witnesses for deposition, including deposition preparation materials and outlines.
  • Schedule depositions and prepare subpoenas.
  • Draft witness and exhibit lists.
  • Prepare, organize, and manage exhibits for depositions, briefs, hearings, mock trials, and trials.
  • Assist with trial preparation, including call-outs, outlines, binders, printing, and memos.
  • Attend evidentiary hearings, mock trials, and trials to assist with exhibits, witnesses, and trial software.
  • Be ready and eager to take on more responsibility and grow.
Who You Are
  • Experienced in litigation support within a law firm environment, with a proactive approach to handling cases.
  • A highly organized, strategic thinker who loves details and can execute quickly and accurately.
  • Skilled at relationship-building and comfortable engaging with attorneys, clients, experts, and court personnel.
  • A strong communicator with excellent oral and written abilities and outstanding note-taking skills.
  • A team player with a good attitude who thrives both independently and collaboratively.
  • Capable of analyzing information critically and creatively solving problems.
