Qualifications

• 2+ years of civil litigation experience.

• Strong written and verbal communication, proofreading, organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and document-management, calendaring, and electronic-filing systems.
• Experience with e-discovery platforms is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with written discovery requests and responses, including collecting, organizing and summarizing records, transcripts, medical records, and preparing materials for attorney review.
• Organize, review, and maintain documents and electronically stored information using document-management and e-discovery tools.
• Prepare deposition, hearing and trial materials and briefs, exhibit lists, chronologies, summaries, and trial notebooks.
• Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, experts, vendors, and other relevant parties under attorney direction.
• Protect confidentiality of client and firm information, documents and data.
• Coordinate service of process, subpoenas, depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial logistics.
• Track billable time, case expenses, records requests and status updates.
• Other duties as assigned.

Role Description

This is a full-time role for an organized and detail-oriented Paralegal to support attorneys throughout all phases of civil litigation.

Responsibilities

• Assist with written discovery requests and responses, including collecting, organizing and summarizing records, transcripts, medical records, tracking requests and responses, proof-reading, and preparing materials for attorney review.
• Organize, review, and maintain documents and electronically stored information using document-management and e-discovery tools.
• Prepare deposition, hearing and trial materials and briefs, exhibit lists, chronologies, summaries, and trial notebooks.
• Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, experts, vendors, and other relevant parties when authorized and under attorney direction and supervision.
• Protect confidentiality of client and firm information, documents and data.
• Coordinate service of process, subpoenas, depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial logistics.
• Track billable time, case expenses, records requests and status updates.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of civil litigation experience preferred.
• Must satisfy at least one qualification pathway under Cal. Bus. & Prof. Code § 6450(c): (1) a certificate of completion of a paralegal program approved by the American Bar Association; or (2) a certificate of completion from a postsecondary institutionally accredited or approved institution requiring successful completion of at least 24 semester units, or equivalent quarter units, in law-related courses.
