Responsibilities

  • Litigation File Management: Manage assigned litigation caseload from referral through resolution; review files for readiness; develop action plans; monitor progression; maintain attorney communications; ensure deadlines are met; maintain strategy notes.
  • Discovery Management: Draft and prepare Interrogatories, Requests for Production, Requests for Admission; coordinate collection and production; organize materials; monitor deadlines; prepare summaries.
  • Pleading and Motion Drafting: Draft pleadings, motions, notices, and correspondence; prepare complaints, answers, motions, notices, scheduling orders, and consent motions; ensure compliance.
  • Case Investigation and Development: Review medical and billing records; summarize records; assist with witness identification and investigation; analyze evidence; coordinate expert retention.
  • Deposition and Mediation Preparation: Organize exhibits; prepare mediation packages; assist attorneys; maintain witness and exhibit files.
  • Trial Preparation: Prepare trial notebooks; organize exhibits; draft witness and exhibit lists; coordinate trial logistics; maintain readiness.
  • Client Communication: Maintain regular client communication; respond to inquiries; obtain documentation; maintain professionalism.
  • Supervision and Coordination: Delegate tasks to Litigation Assistants; review work; coordinate records procurement; assist training staff.
  • Case Management System Administration: Maintain CasePeer notes; document activities; ensure organization and workflow compliance.

Job description

The Litigation Paralegal is responsible for managing assigned litigation files from referral to the litigation department through resolution. This position serves as the primary litigation support professional for attorneys and is responsible for substantive case management, discovery coordination, drafting litigation documents, trial preparation, and maintaining litigation file progression.

The Litigation Paralegal owns the day-to-day management of assigned litigation files and works closely with attorneys to develop cases, prepare discovery, monitor deadlines, prepare motions and pleadings, and ensure files are properly prepared for mediation, trial, and resolution.

The Litigation Paralegal may oversee and delegate administrative litigation tasks to Litigation Assistants while maintaining responsibility for the overall management and progression of assigned files.

This position reports to the Senior Attorney or Managing Attorney.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Litigation File Management
  • Manage assigned litigation caseload from litigation referral through resolution.
  • Review files for litigation readiness.
  • Develop litigation action plans with assigned attorneys.
  • Monitor file progression and identify obstacles to case advancement.
  • Maintain regular communication with attorneys regarding case status.
  • Ensure all litigation deadlines and objectives are met.
  • Maintain litigation strategy notes and case summaries.
Discovery Management
  • Draft and prepare:
  • Interrogatories

  • Meet and Confer Correspondence
  • Coordinate discovery collection and production.
  • Organize discovery materials and exhibits.

Pleading and Motion Drafting
  • Draft pleadings, motions, notices, and litigation correspondence for attorney review.

Trial Preparation
  • Prepare trial notebooks.
  • Organize exhibits and demonstrative evidence.
  • Draft witness lists and exhibit lists.

  • Assist attorneys with trial preparation and organization.
  • Maintain trial readiness of assigned files.
Client Communication
  • Maintain regular communication with clients regarding litigation progress.
  • Respond to client inquiries.
  • Obtain information and documentation from clients.
  • Maintain professionalism and client satisfaction.
Supervision and Coordination
  • Delegate administrative litigation tasks to Litigation Assistants as appropriate.
  • Review work completed by Litigation Assistants.
  • Coordinate records procurement and administrative litigation activities.
  • Assist with training and mentoring litigation support staff.
Case Management System Administration
  • Maintain accurate and detailed CasePeer notes.
  • Ensure all litigation activities are documented timely.
  • Maintain file organization and documentation standards.
  • Monitor task completion and workflow compliance.
Authority and Decision-Making
The Litigation Paralegal may:
  • Draft litigation documents for attorney review.
  • Coordinate discovery and litigation activities.
  • Communicate with opposing counsel regarding procedural matters.
  • Coordinate experts, witnesses, and vendors.
  • Recommend litigation strategies and next steps.
The Litigation Paralegal may not:
  • Sign pleadings.
  • Appear in court on behalf of clients.
  • Negotiate settlements without attorney approval.
  • Establish attorney-client relationships.
Qualifications
Required
  • Minimum three years of personal injury litigation experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Georgia litigation procedures.
  • Experience drafting litigation documents and discovery.
  • Strong organizational and case management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to independently manage a litigation caseload.
Preferred
  • Five or more years of litigation paralegal experience.
  • Experience with CasePeer.
  • Experience in complex personal injury litigation.
