Job summary

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or related field. A bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Paralegal certification (ACEBS) preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years as a paralegal or legal support role.
  • Litigation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys in preparing and managing cases, drafting and organizing legal documents, pleadings, motions, subpoenas, discovery requests and responses.
  • Review and organize case files, discovery documents, and evidence; assist with document production per court orders and deadlines.
  • Prepare and respond to discovery requests; track deadlines and responses.
  • Prepare and file legal documents with NYSCEF, PACER, and other courts; ensure deadlines and procedural requirements are met.
  • Assist with arbitration and trial preparation, including exhibits, witness lists, and binders; coordinate with witnesses and experts.

Job Summary

The Paralegal will support attorneys by performing a variety of tasks including legal research, document preparation, case management, and administrative duties. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of legal procedures and terminology.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Assist attorneys in the preparation and management of cases, including drafting and organizing legal documents, pleadings, motions, subpoenas, discovery requests, and responses.
  • Review, organize, and analyze case files, discovery documents, and evidence. Assist with document production in compliance with court orders, client requests, and deadlines.
  • Assist with the preparation and response to discovery requests (interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admissions). Track and manage discovery deadlines and responses.
  • Prepare and electronically file legal documents with local, state, and federal courts. Ensure compliance with filing deadlines and procedural requirements. (i.e. NYSCEF, PACER, etc.)
  • Assist with arbitration hearing preparation, including the preparation of exhibits, witness lists, and hearing binders. Coordinate with witnesses and experts for hearing support.
  • Assist with trial preparation, including the preparation of exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders. Coordinate with witnesses and experts for trial support.
  • Serve as a liaison between clients, attorneys, and third parties. Ensure effective communication regarding case developments, deadlines, and required information.
  • Maintain case files, update case management systems, and track deadlines. Assist with billing, timekeeping, and file organization.
  • Additional responsibilities specific to your assigned practice group may be required.
  • Uphold the firm’s reputation as the premier source for sophisticated legal counsel by delivering superior outcomes, service, and value to every client and matter.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field. A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Relevant Paralegal certification (i.e. ACEBS) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a paralegal or in a legal support role.
  • Work experience as a practicing paralegal in litigation is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Westlaw, Westlaw Edge, and Aderant, preferred.
