A civil defense firm in Birmingham, AL is looking for an experienced litigation paralegal to join their team. The successful candidate will have at least two years of prior experience in medical malpractice, insurance defense, or product liability. Key responsibilities include participating in litigation strategy, preparing discovery requests, and assisting at trials. This position offers a competitive salary ranging from $83,000.00 to $102,770.00, along with a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance and 401(k).

Huie, Fernambucq & Stewart, LLP has an immediate opening for an experienced litigation paralegal to join our civil defense firm. At least two years of prior paralegal experience in medical malpractice, insurance defense and/or product liability is preferred. The successful candidate will be self‑motivated, punctual and detail‑oriented, and will have excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills (verbal and written).

Responsibilities

• Participate in the litigation strategy and workup of assigned cases, including proposing next investigative steps
• Prepare discovery requests and discovery responses
• Analyze discovery responses and document production from other parties
• Assist with trial/arbitration/mediation preparation and attend/assist attorneys at trial
• Organize trial exhibits and summarize medical records and deposition transcripts
• Gather and analyze research data (e.g., statutes, decisions, legal articles, codes)
• Research and prepare non‑party subpoenas
