  • Paralegal certificate not required but willingness to pursue certificate is preferred for growth.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with account placements to Vendor Law Firms.
  • Prepare affidavits, notarize them, and return documents to Vendor Law Firms.
  • Support Civil Litigation team in recovery/collections tasks.
  • Perform skip tracing to locate customers/defendants for service.
  • Assist with voluntary surrender arrangements with Franchisees and Vendor Firms.
  • Perform asset searches on dormant judgments to aid collection efforts.
  • Update account information in the law firm vendor management platform.
  • Liaise with Vendor Law Firms for court hearings or dates, including document requests.
  • Manage deceased accounts and communicate with estates as needed.
  • Review and prepare legal documents under Senior paralegals.

Overview

Subordinate Positions: NoneLocation: Libertyville, ILCompensation:$21.00 - $27.44 per hour ($43,680 - $57,080 annually based on a full-time schedule), depending on skills and experience.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the other Civil Litigation paralegals with account placements to our Vendor Law Firms.
  • Assist with completing affidavits, which includes notarizing the affidavits and returning the completed documents to the respective Vendor Law Firms.
  • Assist Civil Litigation team as needed within the legal recovery/collection pipeline.
  • Help perform skip tracing efforts to locate customers/defendants to effectuate service.
  • May assist in organizing any potential voluntary surrender arrangements with local Franchisees, the Field and our Vendor Law Firms.
  • Help perform asset searches on dormant judgments to assist in collection efforts. This may include skip tracing for potential places of employment.
  • Assist in updating account information within our law firm vendor management platform.
  • Act as liaison with Vendor Law Firms for any court hearings or other court dates, including preparation of any document requests for such court matters.
  • Assist in the management of deceased accounts to ensure proper handling and communication with the Estate.
  • Review/Prepare/Complete legal documents and related materials as needed under the direction of the Senior paralegals
Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelors Degree plus 2-4 years of experience in a financial services environment preferred
  • Recovery experience preferred
  • Valid Notary Certificate or willingness to obtain a Notary Certificate
  • Skip tracing experience to locate individuals or assets preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Paralegal certificate is not required but willingness to work toward certificate is preferred for growth opportunities within the department
  • Functional expertise through experience and/or education preferred in:Legal writing skillsCredit and Collections lawNegotiations
