Job summary

Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. (QPWB) seeks a seasoned legal assistant to support a fast-paced litigation team in Chicago.

The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience handling state and federal filings, including E-Filing, for civil defense matters. You will file pleadings, manage dockets, assist with depositions, open new files, coordinate travel, draft correspondence, and track subpoenas.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of prior legal assistant experience supporting litigators incivil defense in a high-volume, fast-paced law firm environment.
• IL State and Federal Court filing including E-Filing experience required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook required.
• Requires critical thinking skills, superior communication and organizational skills, decisive judgment, high attention to detail, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• High School Diploma or its equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• File and circulate pleadings in state and federal court.
• Maintain docketing for attorneys including calculation of court and discovery deadlines.
• Provide administrative support including processing invoices, coordinating scheduling of depositions, and ensuring client guidelines.
• Open new files by collecting preliminary documents from clients and obtaining necessary information.
• Coordinate travel and schedule meetings to manage attorney calendars.
• Prepare correspondence and other written documents under attorney direction.
• Prepare and handle tracking and disposition of subpoenas or other information requests.
• Organize and maintain files for easy access and retrieval.
• Monitor files and escalate issues requiring attorney involvement.
