Variant Partners is seeking Energy Litigation Associates to join a national law firm with a sophisticated energy practice. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of energy litigation experience and a client-focused approach, working closely with clients and senior attorneys.

Located in Chicago, Columbus, Cleveland, NY, or other select cities, this role offers exposure to complex energy matters and opportunities for professional development within a collegial team.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school is required.
• 3+ years energy litigation experience is required.
• Experience representing public utility companies is strongly preferred.
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills are essential.
• Client-focused approach with the ability to align legal strategies with business objectives.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team while managing matters independently.
• Demonstrated interest in developing long-term client relationships and participating in business development.

Responsibilities

• Represent energy companies and public utilities in complex litigation and regulatory disputes.
• Handle matters involving electric utilities, energy markets, infrastructure, and related issues.
• Assist with all phases of litigation: strategy, discovery, motions, hearings, and trial prep.
• Analyze complex legal and regulatory issues and develop practical strategies for clients.
• Work closely with senior attorneys and clients to manage litigation matters.
• Develop strong client relationships and provide responsive, business-focused legal advice.
• Participate in business development and client relationship initiatives.
