Job Description:
Our client is seeking an experienced Energy & Environmental Litigation Attorney to join its legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong litigation background with experience handling complex matters involving the energy, environmental, natural resources, or related regulated industries.
This attorney will represent clients in sophisticated disputes, regulatory matters, and litigation involving environmental laws, energy operations, commercial disputes, and related matters. The position offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced attorneys and clients on complex, high-stakes matters.
Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in complex energy and environmental litigation matters in state and federal courts.
- Handle matters involving environmental regulations, energy operations, natural resources, regulatory compliance, and related commercial disputes.
- Manage cases through all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, depositions, hearings, mediation, trial preparation, and resolution.
- Conduct legal research and analyze federal and state environmental and energy laws, regulations, and agency requirements.
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, and other substantive legal documents.
- Take and defend depositions and work with fact and expert witnesses.
- Develop litigation strategies and provide practical legal advice to clients.
- Represent clients in hearings, mediations, settlement negotiations, and other proceedings.
- Work with technical experts, consultants, and other professionals on complex environmental and energy-related matters.
- Communicate directly with clients regarding case strategy, developments, risk, and potential resolution.
- Collaborate with partners, associates, paralegals, and other members of the legal team.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- 3+ years of litigation experience a must have.
- Active and in-good-standing state bar admission.
- Litigation experience, involving energy, environmental, natural resources, toxic tort, regulatory, or complex commercial matters.
- Strong understanding of state and federal civil litigation procedures.
- Experience with discovery, depositions, motion practice, hearings, and trial preparation.
- Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Strong oral advocacy and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to analyze complex technical, regulatory, and factual issues.
- Excellent organizational and case-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple sophisticated matters and deadlines simultaneously.
