Midwest Litigation Group - Litigation Associate

Real Estate and Financial Transaction Firm - Midwest presence

2-5 Years of experience within primary focus on commercial foreclosure and real estate litigation.

The ideal candidate will work on behalf of government-sponsored enterprises, special servicers, banks, and CLOs in connection with a variety of commercial real estate matters.

Key Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

• Advising clients on commercial foreclosures, real estate litigation, and creditor rights issues involving various property types, including hospitality, multifamily, retail, office, and industrial assets.
• Managing all stages of the commercial foreclosure process, including title review, drafting of default notices, pre-negotiation letters, foreclosure complaints, motions for receivership, summary judgment briefing, and sale confirmation documentation.
• Representing clients in contested foreclosure proceedings, including court appearances, oral arguments, and managing discovery.
• Litigating commercial real estate matters involving receiverships, lien priority disputes, and fraudulent transfer claims in both state and federal courts.
• Drafting and negotiating forbearance agreements and loan modification documents.
• Experience with, or a strong interest in, commercial bankruptcy and single-asset real estate cases is preferred.

Experience must include:

• At least 2 years of law firm experience required
• At least 2 years of relevant commercial foreclosure experience required
• Illinois Mortgage Foreclosure process, Code of Civil Procedure, and Supreme Court Rules
