Job summary

Job description

Peak Partners has a client who is a regional law firm looking for a Litigation Attorney with at least five years of experience in commercial litigation and construction law. The firm offers a competitive compensation package, excellent benefits, and a flexible remote work policy with this position located in their Baltimore, MD office.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct legal research and perform in-depth analysis of legal issues relevant to active matters.
  • Draft, review, and revise pleadings, motions, briefs, correspondence, and other legal documents.
  • Develop and execute case strategies in collaboration with senior attorneys.
  • Manage all phases of discovery, including drafting and responding to written discovery, overseeing document production, and coordinating e-discovery processes.
  • Take and defend depositions, including preparing witnesses and analyzing testimony.
  • Representing clients in court appearances, hearings, arbitrations, and mediations, as appropriate.
  • Communicate directly with clients to gather information, provide case updates, and support strategic decision-making.
  • Negotiate with opposing counsel on procedural and substantive matters, including settlement discussions.
  • Manage case files, timelines, and deadlines to ensure efficient case progression.
  • Supervise and coordinate work with paralegals, junior attorneys, and external vendors as needed.
  • Assist with trial preparation, including witness preparation, exhibit management, and coordination of trial logistics.
Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Maryland Bar and in good standing (DC and Virginia admissions a plus).
  • Minimum of five years of experience in commercial litigation, with a strong emphasis on construction law.
  • Demonstrated experience handling complex litigation matters, including managing cases through discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.
  • Proficiency with legal research platforms and litigation technology, including e-discovery tools such as Relativity or Nextpoint.
  • Experience with construction industry contracts, disputes, and claims (including delay, defect, and lien issues).
  • Familiarity with government contracting, bid protests, or administrative proceedings is a plus.
