Job summary

Summit Public Schools is seeking an in-person Literacy Intervention Tutor to provide targeted reading support across CA sites. You will work with Lead Teachers and other staff to implement evidence-based strategies and monitor progress for students not meeting grade-level literacy goals.

The role requires collaboration with classroom teachers, data-informed planning, and a commitment to equity and inclusive teaching practices. Travel across CA sites is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
• Experience tutoring or mentoring middle/high school students in reading or writing.
• Ability to implement established lessons and adjust tutoring as needed.
• Ability to build meaningful relationships with students.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills; openness to feedback.
• Commitment to equity and culturally responsive teaching.

Responsibilities

• Guide students through targeted practice in foundational reading skills and vocab using established materials.
• Pre-teach and re-teach concepts to ensure access to core literacy instruction.
• Align tutoring content with grade-level curriculum across EL, Odell, AP.
• Deliver targeted small-group and individual literacy tutoring during blocks.
• Use data from diagnostics and courses to adjust tutoring strategies.
