Job summary

Summit Public Schools is seeking a Literacy Intervention Tutor to bolster students’ literacy skills through targeted, small-group and one-on-one support aligned with EL Education, Odell Education, and AP coursework.

You will work closely with the Manager of Literacy Practice and site leadership to monitor progress, adjust strategies, and ensure strong literacy growth across the school. This in-person role requires travel across Summit CA sites.

Qualifications

• Experience tutoring or mentoring middle/high school students in reading or writing.
• Ability to adapt established lessons to student needs during tutoring sessions.
• Strong collaboration and communication with teachers and leaders.

Responsibilities

• Guide targeted practice in foundational reading skills, close reading, writing, and vocabulary.
• Pre-teach/re-teach concepts based on Lead Teachers’ content.
• Align tutoring materials with grade-level curriculum (EL, Odell, AP).
• Deliver small-group and 1:1 tutoring during Student Support Blocks and SDL times.
• Use assessment data to adjust tutoring strategies with supervisor guidance.
• Share progress with teachers and site leadership; track student growth daily.
• Help students set literacy goals and monitor progress; foster ownership.
• Collaborate with special education and multilingual learners staff for cohesive support.
• Observe site instruction to ensure alignment with classroom learning.
• Engage in professional development and implement feedback to improve practice.
