Job summary

Summit Public Schools is seeking a Literacy Intervention Tutor to provide targeted literacy support in person across California sites. You will work with students not yet meeting grade-level literacy standards, using data to tailor interventions and align with EL Education, Odell Education, and AP curricula.

You'll collaborate with Lead Teachers, SPED staff, and Multilingual Learner specialists to ensure cohesive student support and accelerated literacy growth.

Qualifications

• Experience tutoring or mentoring middle/high school students in reading or writing.
• Ability to implement established lessons and adjust tutoring based on student needs.
• Strong collaboration and communication with teachers and specialists.
• Commitment to delivering equity and culturally responsive instruction.

Responsibilities

• Guide students through targeted practice in foundational reading, close reading, and academic vocabulary.
• Pre-teach and re-teach concepts to align with core literacy instruction.
• Align tutoring materials with grade-level curriculum (EL Education, Odell Education, AP).
• Deliver small-group and 1:1 literacy tutoring during designated blocks.
• Use assessment data to adjust tutoring strategies under supervision.
• Share progress updates with teachers and site leadership to inform planning.
