Job summary

Peabody Public Schools Carroll School in Peabody, Massachusetts is seeking a Literacy Tutor (2) to support students under a Title I grant. The role requires conducting literacy and math tutoring, using prepared lesson plans, and collaborating with teachers and the Title I Director.

The position is part-time, 19.5 hours per week, with the start date immediately and ongoing through the school year. Salary is $25.00 per hour, and experience with general education students is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in education (minimum).
• Excellent interpersonal and collaborative problem solving skills.
• Successful prior experience working with general education students.
• Knowledge of best practices in teaching and learning and the ability to apply these practices.
• Ability to plan student lessons and work independently with individuals and groups.
• Commitment to the District’s goals & school improvement plan goals.
• Bilingualism is a highly desired skill for a position, but not a requirement.

Responsibilities

• Instruct at-risk individuals or small groups using prepared lesson plans.
• Support instruction under supervision of classroom teacher, Title I Director and Building Principal.
• Document student performance and progress with teachers and student program requirements.
• Plan instructional activities and administer assessments with classroom teachers.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary programs with staff and teachers.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or designee.
