Job summary

Teaching Matters in Philadelphia is seeking a Literacy Lead Coach to develop instructional coaches and enhance program quality. The role combines in-school coaching with internal leadership across content development, project management, and coach-development systems.

The position emphasizes modeling best coaching practices, differentiating support by need, and collaborating with district priorities to drive equity and student achievement.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years experience as a literacy coach/school leader or equivalent teaching experience in elementary grades.
• EL Education Focus – Curriculum Adoption.
• Demonstrated effectiveness in the Science of Reading and achieving measurable literacy gains.
• Strong coaching practices and relationship-building skills.
• Commitment to ongoing professional learning in CRSE.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing mentorship and support to instructional coaches, especially newer staff.
• Offer targeted feedback on coaching practice, planning, and instructional strategies.
• Serve as a thought partner to coaches for problem-solving and growth.
• Coordinate with Associate Directors to address challenges and elevate concerns as needed.
• Model strong coaching through observation, co-planning, and demonstrations.
