Job summary

SPL in Floresville, Texas, seeks a Field Meter Prover Technician to join our energy testing team. You will operate and maintain meter proving equipment, calibrate LACT units, and ensure measurement accuracy in diverse field environments.

This full-time role requires hands-on experience, a valid driver's license, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather. You will document field reports, support customers, and comply with API, AGA, GPA standards while traveling locally as needed.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of hands-on experience in liquid measurement or meter proving.
  • Working knowledge of AGA, GPA, and API measurement standards.
  • Valid driver's license; CDL-A preferred.
  • Ability to obtain state measurement certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain ball and piston provers to verify meter accuracy
  • Prove and calibrate LACT units and other liquid measurement systems
  • Operate and troubleshoot Coriolis, turbine, positive displacement, ultrasonic, and master meters
  • Use EFM flow computers, programmable logic controllers, and SCADA systems for monitoring and data collection
  • Collect spot and composite samples and safely handle hazardous and nonhazardous materials
  • Perform field calculations, including API gravity and sediment and water determinations
  • Troubleshoot measurement and instrumentation issues and perform minor repairs and adjustments
  • Prepare and maintain accurate job tickets, field reports, and supporting documentation
  • Maintain tools, proving equipment, and vehicles in safe operating condition
  • Perform work in accordance with applicable API, AGA, GPA, and ASTM standards and company safety procedures
  • Communicate effectively with customers, field personnel, and supervisors
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What You’ll Do

Requirements
What We’re Looking For
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • 1+ years of hands-on experience in liquid measurement or meter proving, including operating, maintaining, calibrating, or troubleshooting LACT units, flow meters, proving systems, SCADA, PLCs, or EFM flow computers
  • Working knowledge of AGA, GPA, and API measurement standards and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required; CDL-A license strongly preferred
  • Ability to obtain and maintain applicable state measurement certifications and other required qualifications
Work Schedule & Travel
  • Full-time, field-based position with workdays ranging from 8 to 16 hours
  • Rotating on-call availability required, including evenings and weekends
  • Work is performed outdoors in hot, cold, and inclement weather conditions
  • Daily local travel required, with up to 20% overnight travel to support other locations
