Job summary

Energy Transfer in Texas seeks a skilled midstream technician to maintain liquid meters, probes, flow computers, valves and provers, performing calibrations and inspections to meet regulatory requirements.

The role involves operating custody transfer facilities, density verifications, and periodic tests, with emphasis on safety, quality control, and timely reporting. A high school diploma is required with varying experience levels.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of EPA, DOT, OSHA, NEC, API and GPA requirements.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and operate facilities in compliance with specifications, codes, safety standards and procedures.
• Perform density verifications using Pycnometer and Hydrometer.
• Calibrate, inspect and maintain equipment for quality/quantity determinations.
• Witness meter verifications as performed by third party contractors.
• Operate custody transfer facilities including tank gauging per specs and safety standards.
• Repair and troubleshoot measurement equipment such as meters and flow computers.
• Install instrumentation in new or renovated facilities.
• Collect product quality samples for Crude or NGL liquids per guidelines.
• Participate in partnership safety program and initiatives.

Summary

This position maintains liquid meters, pneumatic/hydraulic composite samplers, flow computers, valves and valve operators, piston type provers, sphere type provers, and performs calibrations and inspections of all instrumentation related to quality and quantity determination in a manner to meet operational needs in compliance with partnership and regulatory requirements.

• Maintain and operate facilities in compliance with applicable specifications, codes, safety standards and operating procedures.
• Perform density verifications using a Pycnometer and/or Hydrometer.
• Perform periodic accuracy tests including the calibration, inspection and maintenance of all equipment related to quality and quantity determination.
• Witness meter performance verifications as performed by third party contractors, as needed.
• Maintain and operate custody transfer measurement facilities including tank gauging in compliance with applicable specifications, codes, safety standards and operating procedures.
• Maintain, operate, troubleshoot and repair measurement equipment, including meters, samplers, flow computers and other peripheral measurement-related devices.
• Install instrumentation and equipment in new and renovated measurement and/or regulation facilities.
• Understand system gain/loss processes, ticket writing, etc.
• Collect product quality samples for Crude or NGL liquids, in compliance with partnership safety and industry guidelines.
• Actively participate in partnership safety program and initiatives.

Required Education

• High school diploma or GED.

Required

Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:

• Level C requires a minimum of 0 - 2 years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience.
• Level B requires a minimum of 2 - 4 years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience.
• Level A requires a minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience.

Required Qualifications

• Knowledge of applicable EPA, DOT, RRC, OSHA, NEC, AGA, API and GPA requirements and procedures.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication skills to interface with our customer base.

Preferred Qualifications

• PC skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel.
• Some college or technical trade school is preferred.

Working Conditions

• Lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally.
• Driving, walking, standing frequently.
• Exposure to adverse weather, cramped conditions and some heavy lifting Visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Occasional overnight travel may be required.
