Job summary

LegalSight in Ocean City, NJ, seeks a hands-on Linux Systems Administrator to own and optimize our Linux fleet, virtualization, and cloud footprint. You’ll automate, monitor, harden security, and document everything while migrating from SonicWall to OPNsense and shaping our edge architecture.

Office-based with two days on-site weekly; you’ll grow into broader systems responsibilities over time. We value curiosity, strong scripting, and clear communication; bring Proxmox, Docker, and AWS exposure

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on Linux administration in a production environment.
• Must be comfortable at the command line, networking, storage, and package management.
• Solid scripting for automation (Bash required, Python or similar a strong plus).
• Working knowledge of virtualization: Proxmox specifically is ideal, but solid KVM/hypervisor experience translates.
• Sound networking fundamentals: firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, DNS, and routing.
• Some AWS exposure (EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, VPC) and ramping on unknown components.
• Curiosity and drive to grow into new areas of the stack.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Linux servers (Ubuntu): provisioning, patching, hardening, storage, users/permissions, and day-to-day troubleshooting.
• Manage our Proxmox virtualization environment: VMs and containers, resource allocation, snapshots, backups, and keeping the cluster healthy.
• Own the network edge and firewall: migrate from SonicWall to OPNsense and manage firewall rules, VPN, DNS, and routing.
• Automate repetitive tasks: write Bash/Python scripts to automate provisioning and monitoring.
• Set up and maintain monitoring, alerting, logging, and backups/restores.
• Support Docker containers, deployment targets, and databases used by our engineering team.
• Operate and maintain AWS footprint: EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, VPC while watching costs and security.
• Respond to incidents and document configurations for maintainability.
