Job summary

IMC Trading seeks a Linux Engineer to design and operate Linux at scale across a mission-critical environment. The role emphasizes automation, self-service tooling, and a large, diverse workload including Kubernetes-based apps and high-frequency workloads.

You will troubleshoot complex Linux issues, develop tooling with Python/Bash, and enhance provisioning workflows for production readiness. A strong background in bare-metal Linux, Puppet/Hiera, and modern CI/CD practices is required.

Qualifications

• Hands-on Linux engineering and provisioning at scale.
• Experience managing bare-metal Linux servers.
• Automation and scripting in Python/Bash.
• Puppet and Hiera configuration management expertise.
• RPM packaging and in-house repository knowledge.
• CI/CD pipelines, Git usage, and code reviews.
• Strong debugging with tools like EBPF, tcpdump, strace, systemd.
• Networking basics: DNS, TCP/UDP/multicast.
• Experience building/publishing Docker images and Kubernetes workloads.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

Responsibilities

• Apply deep Linux engineering to troubleshoot complex issues on enterprise systems, ensuring stability and performance.
• Enhance configuration management for over 10,000 bare-metal Linux systems globally.
• Develop and maintain Python/Bash tools to support large-scale systems management.
• Improve provisioning workflows to turn bare servers into production-ready platforms.
• Extend Linux metrics, logging, monitoring, and alerting for fleet visibility.
• Communicate updates clearly with peers and stakeholders via meetings, tickets, code reviews, chats, and MR's.
