Job summary

Unisys is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join the Platform Engineering team in Rockville, MD. You will work with cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure), Linux, Docker, and scripting (Python/bash) to automate and streamline application delivery processes.

You will build and maintain Linux images, manage CI/CD pipelines in GitLab, and apply AI-driven automation to improve productivity across cross-functional teams including Security, Networking, and DevOps.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience in the listed areas/tools.
• Strong background in Linux/Unix Engineering.
• Experience with containerization (Dockerfiles, EKS, ECS, Fargate).
• Working knowledge of CI platforms such as GitLab.
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools such as Ansible.
• Experience leveraging AI tools for code generation, troubleshooting, documentation, and automation.

Responsibilities

• Architect and maintain Linux gold images (AMIs and Docker).
• Build and manage CI/CD images, components, templates, and pipelines in GitLab.
• Enforce Desired State Configuration (DSC) via Ansible.
• Apply AI-driven automation to improve developer productivity and reduce manual effort.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and collaborate across Application Development, Information Security, Networking, and DevOps teams.

Job description

We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer with cloud (AWS and/or Azure), Linux, docker, and scripting (Python and/or bash) experience. As part of the Platform Engineering team, you will be helping with the automation and streamlining of application delivery operations and processes, especially focused on the Linux operating system as used by EC2s and containers such as ECS and EKS. This role leverages modern DevOps practices including containerization, CI/CD, and AI-powered tools, with scripting in Python and bash used at every stage.

At least 3 years of hands-on experience in the areas/tools listed below, plus a relevant BS or equivalent work experience:

• Strong background in Linux/Unix Engineering
• Strong experience in scripting such as Python and bash
• Experience with containerization (Dockerfiles, EKS, ECS, Fargate)
• Working knowledge of continuous integration platforms such as GitLab
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools such as Ansible
• Experience leveraging AI tools for code generation, troubleshooting, documentation, and automation
