Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a self-motivated Linux Administrator to support 616th OC in San Antonio, onsite. You will own the Linux environment, perform sustainment, and coordinate complex changes with senior engineers and mission partners.

Responsibilities include patching, vulnerability review, automation via Bash and Ansible, and VMware VM support. A TS/SCI clearance and DoD 8140 IAT II certification are required where applicable.

Qualifications

• DoD 8140 information assurance requirements and TS/SCI clearance where applicable.
• Hands-on production Linux administration with recent RHEL experience.
• Experience with systemd, RPM/DNF, filesystems, LVM, TCP/IP, DNS, and basic recovery.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, patch, and troubleshoot Linux servers per standards and change procedures.
• Manage hosts with Red Hat Satellite or equivalent tooling for registration, content, and patches.
• Review DISA STIG findings and document exceptions for cybersecurity review.
• Monitor services, logs, storage, performance, and ticketing to prevent customer impact.
• Troubleshoot Linux-related issues and escalate when architectural decisions are needed.
• Manage accounts, SSH, sudo, firewalls, cron jobs, backups, and services per procedures.
• Develop Bash scripts and use Ansible or similar automation; maintain in repos.
• Support Linux VMs in VMware vSphere/vCenter; coordinate provisioning and tools.
• Assist with server builds, OS upgrades, migrations, restores, and decommissioning.
• Support Linux-hosted apps and coordinate with service owners for app-layer issues.
• Maintain system records, SOPs, and patching/security remediation docs.
• Coordinate schedules and handoffs with cybersecurity, networking, virtualization, and customers.
