Job summary

By Light Professional IT Services LLC is seeking a Sr. Linux System Administrator (Linux/Unix) to support the Army National Guard in Falls Church, VA. The role includes ITSM responsibilities, STIG compliance, and collaboration with senior government leadership.

The position is three days onsite with up to two days telework, with onboarding on-site up to 60 days. The candidate should have 6+ years of RHEL experience, DoD 8570.01-M IAT II certifications, and strong scripting/automation skills.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience with RHEL 7/8 servers.
• DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II (Security+ CE) and CE certification.
• Experience managing RHEL servers and Linux administration.
• Strong Linux and networking knowledge; familiarity with ITIL/ITSM context.
• Experience with automated configuration management (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
• Scripting for automation (bash, Python, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Provide Linux system administration: install software, patching, file systems, monitoring, troubleshooting.
• Analyze and resolve OS/server/hardware/app problems.
• Perform backups, patching, and security hardening.
• Maintain security configurations and STIG compliance.
• Coordinate with data center teams for maintenance and changes.
• Create and maintain standard operating procedures and docs.
