Bowhead Family of Companies seeks a Linux Systems Administrator to join our Dahlgren, VA team. The role focuses on system administration and user support in a rigorous RDT&E setting, handling servers, workstations, and possibly clustered systems in classified and unclassified networks.

Four-plus years of Linux administration experience, plus DoD 8570 IA/IAT II criteria, are required. HP and Dell hardware experience is essential, with Top Secret clearance and US citizenship.

Qualifications

• Four or more years of Linux-based workstation administration experience.
• DoD 8570 IAT II/IAWF criteria compliance at time of hire.
• Top Secret security clearance and US citizenship required.
• Experience with HP and Dell hardware.

Responsibilities

• Provide system administration and end-user support for servers and workstations in an RDT&E environment.
• Collaborate with team to administer and manage Linux-based systems in unclassified and classified networks.
• Analyze, design, and implement modifications to system software to improve performance and meet needs.
• Participate in planning hardware acquisitions and vendor interactions.
• Support scientists and engineers by enabling access to workstations and servers for computation-heavy tasks.
• Assist with licenses management, software tracking, and backup/recovery of configurations and data.
• Assist users with account requests and access approvals.
