Torch Technologies in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Linux System Administrator to support enterprise Linux systems (Rocky and RHEL) with a focus on security, automation, and virtualization. The role requires strong Bash/Python scripting, Ansible experience, and a current Secret clearance.

Off-hours support may be required; the candidate should work well within a team and document installation, configuration, and security procedures for multiple organizations.

Qualifications

• Requires US Citizenship and DoD 8570/8140 IAT-II or equivalent within 90 days.
• Experience with Linux infrastructure, security integration, and STIG compliance.
• Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, OpenShift, KVM) and container runtimes.

Responsibilities

• Linux infrastructure setup, hardening, and maintenance per DoW guidelines.
• Write and test Ansible playbooks for patching and baseline provisioning.
• Deploy and manage containerized services (Podman/Docker) and VMs (OpenShift, KVM, VMware).
• Hardware and system maintenance including HWIL components and security procedures.
• Troubleshoot Linux kernels, network interfaces, and container runtimes.

Off Hours support may occasionally be required as mission dictates.**Some of the primary responsibilities will include:*** **Linux Infrastructure & Security Integration:** Configure, harden, and maintain enterprise Linux systems (primarily Rocky and RHEL) in accordance with DoW guidelines, STIGs, and RMF security standards.* **Ansible Automation & IaC:** Write, test, and execute Ansible playbooks and roles to automate operating system patching, baseline provisioning, compliance drift remediation, and routine system maintenance across the lab footprint.* **Containerization & Virtualization:** Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot containerized application services (Podman, Docker) and virtual environments (OpenShift Virtualization, KVM, VMware) to maintain high-fidelity digital representations of physical test environments.* **Hardware & System Maintenance:** Perform vulnerability scans, system auditing, and lifecycle maintenance.
