Job summary

Thales Group in Austin, TX is seeking a Software Engineer to design and implement cross-platform kernel features, primarily at the file system and storage level. You will work with Linux toolchains, FUSE-based file systems, and cloud-ready strategies while collaborating with US teams across PMs, QA, and support.

The role requires strong C/C++ and Go skills, experience in virtualization, and familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and Agile processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical field with 1–4+ years of relevant work experience
• Experience in designing/implementing and debugging software in multi-processor architectures
• Experience with clustering and distributed file systems is desirable
• Knowledge of virtualization - VM and Hypervisor, Docker/containers
• Strong C/C++ and Go
• Experience with Kubernetes and Agile software development practices
• Familiarity with Intel/AMD 64-bit architectures

Responsibilities

• Research, design and implement cross-platform kernel software, focusing on file system and storage layers
• Collaborate with US project managers to understand customer requirements and use cases
• Write design/functional specifications and review with architects
• Triage customer defects and provide timely escalation updates
• Develop unit tests and coordinate with system test teams to ensure quality
• Work with Linux toolchain in user space and kernel for FUSE-based file systems
• Prepare functional specs using Confluence/wiki and participate in reviews
• Communicate clearly with QA, Documentation and support teams
• Participate in SAFe Agile planning and daily huddles
