THE POSITION


The Help Desk Specialist will oversee operations and maintain situational awareness of the CONUS SIPRNet and GCCS Management Centers. Responsible for Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for GCCS and JPES, using established SOPs, knowledge bases, ticketing, and system guidelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Respond to and diagnose UNIX/Linux issues, providing Tier 1 and 2 support for GCCS and JPES, managing incidents to minimize operational impact.
  • Provide technical support for UNIX/Linux systems within SIPRNet and GCCS Centers, resolving incidents promptly via calls, email, and requests.
  • Use knowledge bases and ticket systems to document, track, and resolve user issues, maintaining a repository for technical solutions.
  • Develop methods and evaluate performance, monitoring KPIs, and suggesting improvements to operations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary technicians and support teams to resolve complex technical issues and build effective relationships.
  • Enhance operational environments while maintaining cybersecurity and IA standards for systems and hardware.
  • Adhere to all safety, security, and worksite policies, completing required training and certifications.

  • 100% on-site at the Pentagon
  • This is a Swing Shift position
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Active Top-Secret Clearance with SCI
  • High School Diploma
  • DoD 8570 / 8140 IAT-II Security+CE certification
  • 5+ years UNIX/Linux support/administration experience in enterprise environments
