Job summary

Apex Systems is seeking a Linux System Administrator to support the JS J7 Joint Training DevSecOps Pipeline Core Infrastructure and Data Center in Suffolk, Virginia. The selected candidate will provide operational and technical support to the Deputy Directorate, Joint Training (DDJT), maintaining mission-critical Linux infrastructure within a secure government environment.

This role requires an active Secret clearance, at least 4 years of Linux admin experience, and DoD 8570 IAT Level II

Qualifications

• Active Secret Clearance is required.
• Minimum 4 years of Linux System Administration experience.
• Must have one DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP or CCNA Security).
• One of RHCSA or RHCDS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux-based systems supporting DevSecOps and training environments.
• Support core data center infrastructure and platform operations.
• Monitor system health, performance, and security compliance.
• Perform system updates, patching, and vulnerability remediation.
• Assist with infrastructure modernization and operational improvements.
• Support accreditation, security, and compliance requirements in a DoD environment.

• Target Salary Upon Conversion: $75,000 - $85,000 annually
• Contract Pay Rate: $40.87/hr
• Location: Suffolk, VA (100% Onsite)
• Duration: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire
• Clearance Required: Active Secret Clearance

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux-based systems supporting DevSecOps and training environments.

• Experience supporting enterprise Linux environments.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps and data center operations.
• Knowledge of system hardening, security best practices, and patch management.
• Experience working within DoD or government environments.

Compensation & Benefits

The anticipated pay range for this position is $37.00/hr to $41.00/hr. Please note that the final pay rate will be determined based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, qualifications, and the specific requirements of the role.
