Summary

Performs tasks to ensure linen/clothing distribution and cleaning meet patient/staff care needs, with all linen handled, stored, and processed to control/prevent infection. Distributes linen, stocks shelves and carts to established par levels, utilizing the exchange cart system, and collects solid linen. Provides exceptional customer service to internal customers.

Job Duties

• Collect soiled linens and personal clothing from designated areas.
• Distribute linen/clothing for pickup by nursing assistants.
• Monitor linen quality daily.
• Load and operate washing machines following equipment instructions.
• Follow delivery and retrieval procedures of the linen services department.
• Follow infection control guidelines while collecting soiled linen (gloves, gowns, face shield).
• Strive for optimal use of supplies, considering cost and budget limitations.
• Load washers to ensure continuous linen processing.
• Record receipt of clean and disposable linen.
• Process linens through ironer/folder and towel folder.

Minimum Qualifications

• At least 1 year of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of PCs and software.
• Familiarity with hospital terminology.
• Customer service, teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to move/control heavy carts and lift linen bundles and full linen bags.
• Ability to prioritize and work independently in a changing environment.

Physical Demands

Lift over 50 lbs., push/pull up to 140 lbs., carry 80 lbs. short distances. Frequent standing, walking, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and reaching overhead.
