Job summary

Georgia Power is seeking an Unassigned Apprentice Lineman (UAL-1) for Distribution, located across Georgia. This entry-level role trains in overhead and underground distribution, with emphasis on safety and climbing poles, and progression through the Lineman Development Program.

The program lasts 4–5 years to become Journeyman Lineman. Candidates should have a high school diploma and may hold ELAC; lifting and working at heights up to 75 feet are required; strict driving record checks apply.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• ELAC certification through a Technical College of Georgia preferred.
• Basic mechanical and electrical aptitude or background.
• Minimum 1 year of construction/utility/electrical experience preferred.
• Outdoor work, heavy equipment and lifting experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in construction of overhead and underground distribution systems.
• Learn procedures for equipment operation and safety practices.
• Climb and work at heights up to 75 feet in buckets or with gear.
• Follow rules and demonstrate strong customer service and teamwork.
