Job summary

Pedernales Electric Cooperative in Kyle, Texas, is hiring a Lineman Apprentice to support operation, maintenance, construction and repair of transmission and distribution systems.

The role requires completion of the Lineman Apprenticeship Program Apprentice Level 2, along with a valid Texas driver’s license. Starting compensation is $37.73 per hour plus KPI bonuses and competitive benefits; travel and safety training are emphasized.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of Department of Labor approved Lineman Apprenticeship Program requirements for Apprentice Level 2.
• Operate PEC vehicle(s) for business purposes in accordance with applicable Federal, State, and local law and PEC policies and procedures.
• Maintain driver eligibility through appropriate valid Texas Driver's License and driving record in accordance with PEC policy.

Responsibilities

• Construct and maintain overhead and underground electric lines and equipment.
• Work lines and equipment energized with higher voltage only after successful completion of Apprentice 2, after training approvals.
• Inspect existing primary and secondary power lines and substation equipment.
• Correct and report problems and hazards observed.
• Maintain and service, including cleaning and repairing, all tools and equipment.
• Perform rubber glove work on energized lines from an aerial device.
• Work on de-energized or grounded lines or equipment, both from the pole or an aerial device.
• Demonstrate the more complex duties of a Lineman under general supervision with some instruction.
