Job summary

Strategic Staffing Solutions in Fort Wayne, IN seeks a technically proficient professional to support the I&M strategic mission toward the Perfect Power Initiative. Under minimal supervision, you will apply knowledge to safely, efficiently and economically accomplish objectives that improve reliability and reduce power interruptions.

Key duties include coordinating work activities, conducting analyses, planning outage and project work, and guiding junior staff.

Qualifications

  • Three years of experience in design, operations, planning, construction or maintenance of systems and/or equipment.

  • Provide training and guidance to lower level employees as appropriate.

Job description

In support of the I&M strategic mission toward the AEP Perfect Power Initiative and under minimal supervision, this role performs work activities requiring technical knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient and economic accomplishment of assigned objectives. Perfect Power is centered on improving the customer experience by reducing frequent power interruptions and delivering a more reliable service. While traditional reliability efforts have focused on sustained outages, Perfect Power expands that view to include shorter-duration events such as momentaries, blinks, and voltage sags that can still impact customers significantly. By identifying and addressing these brief but frequent disruptions, Perfect Power enables a more comprehensive approach to reliability, helping ensure customers receive consistent, high-quality power.

Essential Job Functions:

1) Coordinate work activities of others within work group, team or those external to the company including contractors, vendors as required to resolve routine technical tasks and field work activities.

2) Perform varied assignments demonstrating technical knowledge and analytical techniques to solution of problems or analysis.

7) Pursue effective ways to protect and enhance the environment while providing reliable electricity at a competitive cost.

Other Requirements:

Physical demand level is Sedentary

Two of the Five days 20%-30% will be traveling to job sites for the MU District.

Will submit expenses for fuel and vehicle rental.

No overnight travel.

Monday- Friday (40hrs a week).

  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Listen and identify customer needs/wants.
  • Effectively communicate with team, management, customers, contractors, vendors and regulatory agencies.
  • Knowledge of AEP's general terms and conditions and the experience and ability to correctly interpret and administer contracts.
  • Apply problem solving skills to resolve technical problems and initiate solution techniques.
  • Demonstrate an attitude and desire to listen to and satisfy both internal and external customers who use and depend upon our work.
  • 3 years of experience in design, operations, planning, construction or maintenance of systems and/or equipment.
  • Work Experience: Typically requires a minimum of three years of experience in work activities and projects requiring technical knowledge.
