Job summary

Air Tractor is seeking an aircraft assembler to assemble, fit, and install parts of airplanes and related systems, including tails, wings, fuselage, bulkheads, stabilizers, landing gear and control equipment. You will read blueprints and use hand tools to ensure proper fit and alignment.

This role requires standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and wearing PPE such as safety glasses and safety shoes.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to stand for extended periods.
  • Must wear PPE including safety glasses and safety shoes.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and fit prefabricated parts to form subassemblies.
  • Position and align subassemblies in jigs or fixtures using measuring tools.
  • Cut, trim, file, bend, and smooth parts while checking fit and tolerances.
  • Read blueprints and specifications to determine layouts and sequences.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace parts to ensure proper operation.
  • Attach brackets, hinges, or clips using bolts, screws, rivets, or welding.
  • Fit and fasten sheet metal coverings prior to welding or riveting.

Job Purpose:

Assemble, fit, fasten, and install parts of airplanes, space vehicles, or missiles, such as tails, wings, fuselage, bulkheads, stabilizers, landing gear, rigging and control equipment, or heating and ventilating systems.

Essential Duties and/or Responsibilities:
  • Assemble and fit prefabricated parts to form subassemblies.
  • Position and align subassemblies in jigs or fixtures, using measuring instruments and following blueprint lines and index points.
  • Cut, trim, file, bend, and smooth parts, and verify sizes and fitting tolerances in order to ensure proper fit and clearance of parts.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, illustrations, and specifications to determine layouts, sequences of operations, or identities and relationships of parts.
  • Adjust, repair, rework, or replace parts and assemblies to eliminate malfunctions and to ensure proper operation.
  • Attach brackets, hinges, or clips to secure or support components and subassemblies, using bolts, screws, rivets, chemical bonding, or welding.
  • Fit and fasten sheet metal coverings to surface areas and other sections of aircraft prior to welding or riveting.

  • Must wear proper PPE including safety glasses and safety shoes
  • Must be able to lift no more than 50 lbs.
Experience and Education:
