Job summary

Orizon Aerostructures is hiring for an Aircraft Assembler to join our Kansas-based team. You will assemble aircraft subassemblies, read engineering docs, and follow instructions to meet quality standards.

The role requires attention to detail, the ability to work with fixtures and hand tools, and the discipline to maintain safety and production schedules in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

  • Must have technical/mechanical aptitude.
  • Must understand basic mathematical concepts.
  • Excellent verbal, written and listening skills.
  • Ability to read, interpret customer drawings/mylars/sketches.
  • Ability to obtain inspections/acceptance certifications.
  • Proficient with MS Excel; basic Word/PowerPoint.
  • Able to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare work by following instructions, blueprints, and parts lists.
  • Assemble subassemblies per instructions and engineering docs using hand tools and equipment.
  • Perform repairs/rework per MRB instructions or standard practice.
  • Self-inspect work per customer specifications.
  • Shim, fit, trim, and align assemblies with premade shims.
  • Ensure assemblies are free of FOD and non-conformances.
  • Report non-conformances to Team Leads/Supervisor.
  • Follow safety procedures and report unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain production schedule and tool readiness.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, compliant work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Summary:Assemble, modify and install aircraft structural assemblies, sub-assemblies, and structures on aircraft systems.

Responsibilities -Level 1:
  • Prepares work to be accomplished by following work instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists; gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
  • Assemble aircraft subassemblies in accordance with work instruction and engineering documents, with or without the aid of jigs and fixtures, by drilling, filing, filling, reaming, countersinking, burring, and fastening using various hand tools, as well as electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
  • Perform repairs and rework for issues not requiring MRB (Material Review Board) instructions or approval.
  • Perform repairs and rework, under direct supervision, for issues which require MRB instructions or approval.
  • Self-inspect work in accordance with Customer Specifications
  • Shim, fit, trim and align structural assemblies and sub-assemblies using premade shims.
  • Ensure all assemblies and detail parts are free of Foreign Object Debris (FOD) and non-conformance issues.
  • Report all non-conformances to Team Leads and/or Production Supervisor.
  • Follow all safety procedures and report unsafe conditions to safety officials or manufacturing supervision.
  • Report on job status and productions restraints to Team leaders and/or Production Supervisor.
  • Maintain production schedule, Earned Standard Hour objectives, and production goals.
  • Keeps tools and tooling operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements; notifying Team Lead or Supervisor of any needed repair.
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
Qualifications -Level 1:
  • Must have technical/mechanical aptitude
  • Must demonstrate the ability to understand and work with basic mathematical concepts
  • Must have excellent verbal, written and listening skills and have the ability to provide written and verbal instructions and present information clearly
  • Must demonstrate the ability to read, interpret, and understand customer drawing, mylars and sketches as applicable to work being performed at Orizon
  • Must be able to acquire required certifications for inspecting and accepting parts in assigned area.
  • Must have a positive attitude, professional appearance and demeanor
  • Must be able to pass basic skills assessment for Microsoft Excel and also demonstrate basic skills with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Must exhibit ability to analyse, troubleshoot & correct quality issues.
  • Must have the ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Must be able to pay attention to detail.
  • Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
  • Must be able to work extended hours, overtime and weekends when necessary to support production and operations activities.
