Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking a Line Servicer for installation, maintenance and operation of transmission and distribution facilities in the New Haven area. You will respond to trouble calls, inspect lines, and coordinate switching and restoration work, including working with energized lines during emergencies.

The role requires a Class A CDL, a high school diploma or GED, and at least 2 years in a line mechanic/lineman capacity.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED is required.
Valid Class A CDL is required.
Minimum of 2 years of lineman experience or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Analyze and take corrective action with respect to trouble calls on all types of transmission and distribution circuits and equipment.
Investigate trouble calls; patrol and inspect lines; locate, clear and repair faults on lines and equipment.
Coordinate and/or conduct complex circuit switching and restoration of service resulting from trouble calls.
Work with hot line equipment on energized circuits for emergency repairs or routine maintenance.
Independently interface with emergency forces to accomplish safe trouble call restoration.
Communicate effectively with customers and plan to serve their needs and company goals.
Install, remove, operate and maintain residential, commercial and industrial facilities, both overhead and underground.
Disconnect and connect meters; read in and read out meters.
Operate line switches; replace fuses; obtain line and station clearances.
Direct the work of employees assigned to assist.
