Job summary

St. Tammany Parish Government is seeking a Utility Maintenance Specialist 3 or 4 for line repair and line maintenance. The role supports wastewater treatment plants, sewer collections, lift stations, and water distribution systems under supervision.

Responsibilities include inspecting and repairing infrastructure, locating utilities, meter reading, and operating heavy equipment. A HS diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license are required; on-call duties nights/weekends are expected.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and three years of utility maintenance experience (Level 3).
For Level 4, six years of utility maintenance experience are required.
Valid driver’s license is required.
On-call work during nights and weekends may be necessary.

Responsibilities

Assist in maintenance, construction, repair, and installation of sewer and water infrastructure.
Read meters, turn meters on/off, and complete work orders.
Locate water mains, sewer lines, valves, manholes, and water meters.
Inspect infrastructure and perform repairs and troubleshooting.
Install water mains, valves, manholes, meters, and fire hydrants.
Operate backhoe, trucks and tractors; ensure equipment is serviced.
